I loved soccer until I got to high school


Before then, we always played on either a half-field or just in someone's backyard.

But when I joined the high school team, they started every practice with a 3-4 mile run, then proceeded to practice on a full-length field.

I quickly discovered that while I liked soccer, I hated running. And once you play the game at a competitive high-school level (as opposed to a recreational middle-school level), it is all about the running.
