It's 100% not necessary honestly. I used to brine pork butts. No mas.


I'll occasionally inject still but I haven't brined anything other than turkey or wings in over a decade. When I first started BBQ about 20 years ago the big thing was to brine pork butts overnight. I did it for years... massive pain in the ass with little to no benefit.

Another one of those "golden rules" of BBQ that just isn't true, like the need to cook everything at 220. I'll admit that one took me a LONG time to get over.
