With the right guide/person to show you around....

No, I'd definitely go back. There are certain areas to avoid in Cape Town. We didn't tour in Joburg at all, but from what we have been told... Joburg isn't a city to tour anyway. Certain areas of Cape Town were great to tour in, and very nice. Some very nice restaurants in the Constantia Wine Valley (where we stayed), including Ernie Els' Winery, and the winery owned by De Beers, and Groot Constantia. I took my wife to Catherina's restaurant for our anniversary.
I would definitely have someone who is local to drive you around and guide you the whole time, since they know all of the places to go and not to go.
