why the MVs seemed to sound so much better (and louder) in the mid-80's than they do today? Were there scholarship members in the band back then? Was the band director then just that much more superior in creating a band with a great sound than the recently retired director?

I guess while on the topic of stadium sound, Tech should go ahead and pull the plug on the HT's pregame show. Love the HT's but the MV's pregame routine is solid. While I respect the tradition of the HT's and their successes in the 50's and 60's, the pregame show they perform now is really weak and the MVs is pretty tough to beat.
