Syracuse U hasn't had a hockey team, at least not in the last 50 years.

Seems strange, given the winters up there. There is a solid high school hockey culture in Upstate NY, though probably not as good as New England or Upper Midwest. Basketball took hold, and all the focus went there.

The arena exists - its about a mile off campus in downtown, and various minor league teams have played there over the years. Of course there was that game for the Federal League championship.
