I think another thing that would help is effective scheduling...

for folks that are out of town (as most alumni are), it would help if they could have the meets be on the same weekends as home football or basketball games. I know I often try to find to find weekends where we can catch a meet or two along with a basketball game or football. I think if alumni were in town, they would certainly come to the meets.
