I read somewhere that David was a late decision to sign up , so it's understandable that he was carrying extra off-season weight that he couldn't shed quickly.

It also makes his performance all that much more remarkable: not really prepping hard for it and coming in a weight class higher. Really high ceiling for him!

The SERTC focus on freestyle is starting to pay off big time. The best HS recruits in the country hope to someday be where Walz, McFadden and Mehki Lewis are right now - plus the positive showing by all the other Hokie wrestlers this past week.

That type of success will make the sales pitch to elite recruits that much sweeter, and we will see the results over the next several years.
