Actually, the player that got the last scholarship offer never qualified.

Tyrone Appleton-Miller had some sort of paperwork error (as I recall) and was unexpectedly ineligible. He went to JuCo before finishing at Kansas.

You may be thinking of Nigel Munson, (he was in the same class and left after his freshman year), but there's no chance we would've turned Munson down coming out DeMatha. He was considered a huge pickup at the time.

As for the "form" he had, he apparently didn't have that form until his senior year of high school. As a junior, he was reportedly still shooting from the chest and wasn't yet able to get his shot off against good defenders.

Anybody who knew what Steph would become certainly would've extended a firm offer and pursued him heavily, but that's easy to say in retrospect. At the time, that wasn't known or anticipated by anyone in the basketball world, including Greenberg. I recall a few people thinking that it would've been nice to see Dell's kid wear VT colors, but there certainly wasn't any heartache being expressed about it when he opted for Davidson instead of a walk-on/potential scholarship from VT.
