It takes a lot of "seasoning" to become a head coach
Really surprised Shane hasn't taken a "mid-major" head coaching job to prep him for an eventual P5 job. I think he has the knowledge and the people skills to be very successful at the P5 level, but it seems he doesn't want to take a "minor" detour.
It appears he doesn't want to have to prove himself at the G5 level, but jump straight to a P5 head coaching job. Unfortunately the guys hired for those jobs are usually successful G5 head coaches or P5 O (or D) coordinators.
He appears to be taking the "safe" road, and I can't fault him for that. He just won't have a long career as a P5 head coach like his dad. He can be very successful as a career assistant head coach.
