My tag line for the Pac 12 - it just means less


And I say that with more respect then ridicule. The schools and conference may not year in and year out compete at as high a level as some of the others in the P5-at least in the money sports. But it ain't going nowhere. Geographical lock , long tradition , some really great academic universities.

They care about their athletic programs - but maybe just not as much. Different culture, different strokes. On the other hand the SEC history is such that its athletic success was/is often seen as an antidote for some of what ails its region. The Big 12 has been under the gun to survive so it means a lot there too.

I just dont know if the folks in the ivory towers and on the boards of those schools out west are as vested . I know certain individuals always are- see Phil Knight. But maybe it is just too beautiful out there to get as worked up :)
