Yes, there is a scenario where VT could move from the Coastal

Division to the Atlantic Division and UVA becomes VT's protected cross-division opponent in sports. As far as VT leaving the ACC for another conference, it is probably unlikely. However, if the power conferences form their own association/NCAA division level, then I guess it is possible VT could leave for another "conference" or "division" (if the conferences cease to exist as in their current state).
