Interesting, but the WAC was a mess. It could work with another conference
Unlikely, but if the ACC added ND and WVU, that is manageable. The WAC had totally absurd travel. Think about an entire conference having to deal with the travel issues that WVU currently has to endure. That is untenable.
But go to 16 and you divide into four pods, or quads, or whatever you call them. And then make them into 2 divisions each year: AB/CD, then AC/BD, then AD, BC and play one crossover, you actually play EVERY conference mate at least every third year. And you play 4 conference mates EVERY year, and one additional 2 of every 3 years (assuming a secondary crossover when the primary is paired with your division. (OK, the latter point probably doesn't make sense to whoever might be reading it, and it is tricky, but it does work: you need an "every year" crossover" and a backup from another pod for when that one is your division). I would absolutely love this! It would add so much interest and excitement to college football! But only if you have the right teams. Meaning, not any teams that start with "L" and end with "ouisville".
