Not always. My son was a baseball pitcher and sometimes

extremely frustrated because the guys in the field behind him did not understand the game. He often played shortstop when he wasn't pitching.
Having said that, pitchers often have a different mental APPROACH to the game because it it lonely out there on that mound.
