Have to agree here

Two years ago this critter got up in the attic and did a BUNCH of damage. Insurance people said the policy does not cover rodent/pest damage and I was out of luck. I then googled raccoon damage and the internet suggested just what you did. We filed a claim despite the agent saying it was a waste of time, and when the adjuster called, he said "this should not have been a question. A raccoon is part of the bear family, and your policy covers this."

By the time they had done a thorough inspection, they paid out $31,000 for replacing everything in the attic, painting ceilings and even a new roof (our HOA will not allow a roof to be replaced in spots; the critter ate a small whole in the roof and the shingle used was discontinued. So since they could not find an exact match, I got a whole new roof).

I was only hoping to get coverage on fixing the attic. So there's nothing to lose by filing...except making your wife mad. Which we all do on a somewhat regular basis :)
