With only four teams, the teams that normally get in like Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma will sell that fact to recruits: "You want to play in the playoffs?"
That's a big selling point for HS recruits and will help continue the elite of the elite players to continue to go to these schools. Increase it to eight. You double the number of playoff games which means more revenue. You allow for teams that may have faltered for one game during the season a chance to play for it all. That first round of four games would be Nirvanna!!!
