... romanticizing. It's simply suggesting that reality dictates a more discriminating assessment of things. Because five to ten schools out of over 100 have been punished for some form of serious cheating over the last 20 years does not tell us that everyone out there cheats. It just tells us that some do. Saying that the sport is just professional ignores the fact that at least 90% of all of the players do not receive remuneration (at least they didn't until the COL stipends) nor have any chance of being paid for playing a sport. And noting that the sport as a whole is trending toward more and more professionalism does not in any way suggest that morality dictates it should be taken to its logical conclusion. All of what I just said is reality. You may not agree but no one could credibly argue that it reflects a romantic viewpoint.
