You are making this up as a straw man to try and support your case. No student athlete plays because they are "serving their alma mater." It's not even their alma mater until they graduate! They play because they've been given the rare opportunity to compete at a higher level in a sport they enjoy. It's not about "serving" nor has it ever been. No one has ever made that claim.
