A 1-year contract extension would most likely hurt recruiting...


since opposing coaches would use that against Tech. Either Babcock gives Thomas a 3-year extension or reassigns him to another job within the athletics department (or Thomas can look for another head coaching job or some other job outside of Tech). Babcock is at Amelia Island with all the other ACC AD's (or was earlier in the week), so it's likely that he hasn't had a talk with Thomas yet. The question is, will Babcock give Thomas an extension and is Babcock willing to eat 2 years of it (if it's a 3-yr. deal) if he's not satisfied with Thomas a year from now?
