Here is my attempt at an unbiased take on Ford. he should come to VT

because it is an easier path to starting at running back and easily becomes our best running back when he steps into campus barring one of the current players having a monster year or us signing another 4 or 5 star this year. Also, it is a chance to turn around the narrative about this offense - back to the chicken or the egg debate regarding lack of production by our running backs under Fuente i.e. is it due to lack of talent that suits what he wants or is it by design.

Now why he might not come here and I assume its a no brainer that other schools will use against us time and time again when it comes to running backs of that caliber. Running backs just haven't produced for whatever reason under this offense (see my first paragraph). Heck McMillan went from a 1,000 back as a redshirt freshman to a sub 500 player and actually seemed to have regressed. part of it is a poor fit with the scheme. That being said, its pretty easy for an opposing coach to use his story as a negative recruiting pitch against our program.

wins and losses are all that ultimately matter not signing 5 star running backs. If our primary focus on offense is the passing game and that can get us to the playoffs or consistently 10 win seasons, then I could care less if we get by with 3 star running backs. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have Ford sign with us.
