Remember personality and buy-in to the Univ. is a part of this too.

I am certainly no expert in Fuente, but here are my observations of Franklin as I live in State College, attend many sports events and also was the security guard at the PSU football locker room this past fall (where I talked to Franklin after each game).

-He attends a lot of other sporting events throughout the year. (M&W Basketball, Wrestling, Baseball, Soccer & Hockey). He does so for exposure to alumni base. They show him on the jumbotron or introduce him every time.

-When recruits are on campus, they go to the basketball and wrestling matches with current players and Franklin & coaches. The recruits see the PSU sports fan base and they are welcomed.

-Franklin is very outgoing. Very! He actually comes across a bit like too much of a salesman, but I am not sure that the H.S. kids actually see the difference.

-He is a Pa boy and truly loves this school and state. That comes across. And I don't think he ever wants to leave.

-He is very aware of marketing and how he comes across on TV. Notice Saquon after he was drafted. Franklin was right there after mommy and Daddy to hug Saquon.

-Finally, he is really, really, really good about the 'lettermen'. I was actually security on field for th white out this year vs. Michigan. And it was the camera folks who were so upset by the 100's of lettermen who just were standing around on the sidelines. It gave them no shots for video or still photos.
