How Windows 10 ruined my day

Last night I finished prepping for a workshop today. I shut down my notebook and innocuously selected the 'update and shut down' option. A mistake.

Little did I know this was a major update, the kind that requires multiple auto reboots along the way. When it was done I restarted it and it completed the update in about 2 hours. It worked fine so I shut down.

This morning I showed up early to set up for the workshop and discovered Win10 wouldn't boot. I called Tech support and they had me do a preupdate system restore. That took about 30 minutes and it still wouldn't reboot.

I rescheduled the workshop, apologized profusely, and returned home in shame and frustration.

The punch line: after being powered on for about 90 minutes, the notebook has fixed itself.
