Over the years we've been looking at this stuff, I've thought the idea of leaving ND in their current football scheduling arrangement and adding 1 football only with another full member would work. BYU is the national brand to do that with, while having Navy as the backup.

And adding WVU for the full member would make that work well. Miami would be put in the division with BYU and be their annual rivalry game. It would get national coverage.

The ACC couldn't bring BYU in as a full member because of distance. But football would be fine. It's only 4 games that require flying that distance, and getting ACC exposure in Utah would be good. The ACC could then also schedule a limited number of games in basketball and non-revenue stuff with BYU as well.

What works against this is that I also think we need to get to Conference Champions Only for the CFP. That would cause ND to want to join instead. If this happens, then Miami-ND could end the year. ND could play that California game the week before. The USC one is the only true traditional rival anyway, and USC won't play that in South Bend at the end of the year.
