Except the Pitt-Temple rivalry was a minor rivalry in the Big East

Temple had a bigger rivalry with Rutgers than it did with Pitt. Also, Penn State is probably more like Ohio State than Florida. There may have been a time when Penn State and Pitt divided the state, but that division ended when Penn State joined the Big Ten. If Pitt ever did become great again in football, then it would have a difficult time regaining the territory it has lost to Penn State over the years and adding Temple (basically the red-headed stepchild in the state) won't improve Pitt's odds.
