Two things...

1.) We have less scholarships to work with this year and we have massive needs elsewhere that need to be addressed. We'll likely take three receivers this year with one being a true split end, one being a slot guy, and one being either a combo guy or another split end. Terry is a slot receiver and he is not as good as the Robinson kid out of the 757. No offense to Terry as Robinson is probably a top 5-10 player in-state. Since Robinson seems to be a huge VT lean, he just doesn't have a spot.

2.) We need to get away from this idea that just because there's a three star prospect nearby that we should offer him. That's not a recipe for success. We need to take the best player for the position regardless of location with perhaps some priority to players at pipeline schools where we'll recruit year over year.

I actually have to commend UVA on taking him because he's the type of player they need to live on for the next 3-4 years. I've been very critical of their recruiting philosophy so far under Bronco but that was a solid get for them. Similar to how VT would take kids just off UVA's radar back in the early days under Beamer until the program found it's footing. Whether or not UVA can ramp up their recruiting in a year or two to sustain some form of success remains a huge question mark for multiple reasons. But, in this case, it's a good get for UVA.
