I think it was here on this site someone posted a link to Davis' high school and he was still the record holder for the 100 m at something like 10.8 seconds. I went back a few pages to try and find that but didn't, so don't quote me on that.

Thorpe was a different brand, all-around athlete, training differently, wearing different shoes, running on cinder and dirt tracks, and being hand timed. He might actually have been faster or even slower. But in his day, he was the man by far. I say we sign him up.
