from high school to D-1 is large in and of itself and most recruiters prefer not to make the equation more difficult by having to project players who participate in lower classes. There are always obvious standouts, the Jones brothers, Calvin Talford, Yubrenal Isabelle, Jake Houseright, etc. who really do not require projection but, for more marginal prospects it is more a case of trying to minimize risk variables than any real bias, in my opinion.
