Gross was a bit different...

Getting charged with a dozen felonies and misdemeanors will get you kicked out of any self respecting program...just not worth the brain damage to have to fight that public perception. Brands had no choice (and I am sure his Athletic Director made that clear). Desanto is an immature jackass, but nothing he has done has legal implications, so Brands will look the other way. I have no doubt that Brands would not give Desanto an opportunity if he did what Gross did either, but I do think Brands is all about himself and whatever it takes to accomplish his goals (within reason) is fair game. He has certainly demonstrated that in the past. Gilman is a mini Brands...the two belong together. I would not want either one of them around VT. I am glad he left VT.
