My OP and subsequent posts were in response to 133743Hokie's statement

"Current NBA is more diluted, more athletically talented but less skilled in the nuances of the game, and no, team play is not collectively better now than it was then."

For a period of time (and maybe NBA teams still do it today) majority of the offensive plays seemed to be iso plays. I find it "boring" to watch the player with the ball go 1v1 with his defender while his 4 teammates are standing on the other side of the court watching. Plus, the NBA went through (or is still in) its "street ball" phase. If I want to watch indoor street ball then I would turn on an And-One game or a 3v3 game. Not to mention the NBA decided to tweak its rules which impacted fundamentals of playing the game. It is now 60 steps (TIC) before the officials will call a player for traveling? When was the last time a player was called for palming the ball?
