He either blatantly tried to injure Micic of Michigan, who was the eventual runner up at that weight, or (giving him some reasonable doubt) was so desperate to win that he didn't care if he injured Micic. It was towards the end of their quarterfinal match and Micic was totally in control.

Wrestlers get injured often because it's a brutal sport, but I think it's fair to say that most wrestlers respect their opponents and try to avoid injuring anyone.
