Personally, I've never been impressed with DD

He spent two years at NIU where he took over for Jerry Kill. Kill built that foundation. Doeren reaped the benefits.

As far as recruiting in the ACC, what's so impressive. Here are their ACC recruiting rankings in the last few years...

2018: 6th
2017: 10th
2016: 9th
2015: 6th
2014: 7th

In other words, under Doeren, they've recruited pretty much in the middle of the pack of the ACC. They've never been higher than 6th in the league and had two (recent) years in the lower half of the league. And IIRC, they lost a lot of their talent after this past season. IMO, Doeren won't be there in 2020.
