Conferences own school rights . To get the hot properties on the networks; the networks must pay rights - these rights include financial and commitment to cover other conference school other sports .there are only 2 networks with the cash to meet the demands nbc just Notre Dane for football and cbs for sec football and some basketball reg season bought from espn. That doesn’t include ncaa men’s basketball who at last bidding had to partner with tbs on shared rights . So bottom line limited conferences and limited networks create this market . It takes two
