Ghent is nice now...


My wife grew up in Botetourt Gardens in New Ghent. When we were dating, I told my Dad who was in the Marines and my barber who was in the Navy that my (at the time) girlfriend was from Ghent. They both said it was a rough place and that my girlfriend must be tough. I think they remembered 1940s-50s Ghent and ddn't realize it had turned around. My wife is no wimp though... but that has more to do with her southwest Virginia roots.
