Do you live in a crowded WiFi area? If so, use an analyzer & find a channel


that's not being used and hard code yours there. I'd say >75% of the people with WiFi in their house leave it at the default and it creates a lot of noise. If one of your neighbors has theirs turned up via a hacked program like dd-wrt, it could easily be competing with yours.

The analogy is standing in a room with a bunch of people all talking at the same volume. You can't have a conversation unless you're standing right next to the person (wifi router).

There are plenty of free analyzers out there and Mac has one built into their OS.
