Brewed my 79th beer tonight, a Czech Premium Pale Lager
for our homebrew contest in June. It's a Pilsner on steroids. The Czech Lager will have a complex maltiness, slight cotton candy and toffee-like sweetness with herbal and minty spice notes from the hops. It should be very light golden in color.
I expect 5% alcohol and 45 IBUs.
Ales are fermented at room temperature for about 4 weeks. Lagers are fermented at 52 degrees for 4 weeks, 60 degrees for 2 days, then dropped 3 degrees per day to 35 degrees and lagered at this temperature for 4 more weeks.
An English Brown Ale was the first contest last Sunday. I did pretty well so I'm entering each one this year. June is a Specialty IPA. December is a Russian Imperial Stout. All of these are Ales. [Post edited by TechMomof2 at 03/21/2018 11:35PM]
