Whether Texas and OU are hooked together is not the issue
The issue is why OU would have an interest in joining a conference with most members a long plane trip west when the most similar program in its current league has already looked at that option and decided it is not very attractive.
The PAC is in trouble because of geography and time zones. You can take off and land airplanes just about anywhere within reasonable proximity to a school. But when game times and flight distances dictate that your athletes are either spending extra nights on the road or getting home at 4 a.m. on a frequent basis, you have to take that into account. The schools in the Big 12 understand how difficult that is for WVU in their own league. It's not just about football and basketball that fly charters; it's the other sports that have to fly commercial that have a very tough time.
