FWIW the coordinates for both cities are as follows


Roanoke: 37.2710° N, 79.9414° W
Blacksburg: 37.2296° N, 80.4139° W

Based on that information, then it would be fair to say that Blacksburg is west by southwest (16-point compass) or west by south (32-point compass) of Roanoke.
