They are asked to different things, so that makes them difficult to compare


Clarke played over 60% of VT's minutes; Hunter played just under 50% of UVa's. Hunter was more efficient on offense while using a greater percentage of possessions than Clarke. Clarke had a much higher assist percentage and defensive rebounding percentage. Hunter drew more fouls while he was on the floor, although their free throw rate was about the same.

Trying to be as objective as I can, it's closer than the vote results, but I thought Hunter was the best player on UVa's team in the games I saw. Best player on the best team in the conference seems like a reasonable pick for 6th man of the year.

Of course, the same people who voted 39-7 in favor of Hunter also voted for Guy over Justin Robinson. I don't see any way to justify that whatsoever. (I think that Jerome and Hunter both had better seasons on the same team than he did.)
