I am not worried about that.

If the Hoos win it all, then they can have their bragging rights. Good luck to em.

But fanbases and schools like Carolina and Louisville are just evil. Or, how about somebody like Alabama in football where those folks have conflated just how many championships they've won and proceed to brag about it as fact anyway.

The Wahoo fanbase may be laughable at times in terms of attire, misplaced cultural elitism, poor selection of slogans, whatever. But that's all just fodder for the rivalry, which is a very gentlemanly one in comparison to AUB/ALA or MICH/OSU. When it comes down to it, the Hoos have a lot more in common with us than, let's say, Tarheels or Dukies.

Michigan/Michigan State is a good parallel for VT/UVa. Sure, those guys are rivals -- but in no way does it rise to the acrimony of Michigan/OSU, from the state next door.

To me the Hoos are more like Notre Dame -- somebody we should rival against (and for very good reasons) but at the end of the day they can be good hosts to us at their stadium/arena and everybody can have a good time.

With the likes of Louisville and UNC it's war, to be prosecuted by any means necessary.

I do think I'll choose to root for UVa in this tourney. A win by them would be a refreshing break from the parade of Michigan States, Arizonas, Kansases, UNCs, Dukes, etc. In the ACC the strong presence of UVa would continue to be a strike aimed squarely at the pride of the Carolina establishment -- a strike which VT can hopefully contribute to in the near future.
