Class Of 2017 QB Hendon Hooker Ready To Decide

Via Twitter, Dudley (Greensboro, N.C.) junior quarterback prospect Hendon Hooker made two important announcements over the weekend.

Scout.com reports that Hooker will announce his college choice on Thursday, March 24.

Hooker completed 64.1-percent of his passes while throwing for 2,234 yards and 17 touchdowns his junior season. The 6’4″, 190-pound signal caller got the job done on the ground as well last season, rushing for 1,217 yards and 15 touchdowns on 122 carries. Dudley finished the 2015 campaign with a 13-2 record.

In addition to those schools he mentioned above, Kansas State, South Carolina, Syracuse, Wake Forest and West Virginia also offered the talented prospect, who is rated a 4-star by Scout.com and a 3-star by 247Sports and Rivals.com.

Hooker visited Notre Dame, Virginia Tech and NC State last week. Of the three, Virginia Tech is currently the only school without a quarterback commitment in the class of 2017 – the Irish scored a commitment from Avery Davis of Texas last week, while NC State picked up a pledge from Matt McKay earlier this year.

As the depth chart looks right now, Virginia Tech is expected to have three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in 2017 – would-be senior Jerod Evans, would-be junior Dwayne Lawson and would-be red-shirt freshman or sophomore Joshua Jackson.

  1. I am going to go ahead and guess that NC A&T has a zero percent chance. I think the kid is just honoring one of his relatives that attended there by putting them in his final five.

    1. Yeah, I was thinking “one of these things is not like the other….” as I read that list.
