Four-star DE Zachary Carter Lands VT Offer

Zachary Carter, a consensus 4-star defensive end out of Hillsborough High School in Tampa (FL), reports via Twitter that he has received a scholarship offer from Virginia Tech.

Carter, a junior, stands around 6’4″ or 6’5″ and weighs in at 235 pounds. In the preseason the Bright House Sports Network ranked the top 25 players in the Tampa Bay area. Carter came in at no. 12.

In addition to Virginia Tech, Carter boasts scholarship offers from Clemson, Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Miami, Penn State and South Florida, among others. Florida State and LSU have expressed interest as well.

Virginia Tech has a few connections to Hillsborough. True freshman quarterback Dwayne Lawson starred there, and first-year Hokies Quality Control (Offense) coach Max Warner was also at Hillsborough before heading to Blacksburg.

As of this writing, Stonewall Jackson (Manassas, VA) athlete Devante Smith is Virginia Tech’s lone class of 2017 commitment.

  1. That is ridiculous talent in the Tampa Bay area. Carter is a 4* recruit and the #12 player the Tampa Bay area. The entire state of VA doesn’t produce 12 4*s.
