Virginia Tech Season Tickets are Nearly Sold Out

Virginia Tech Highty Tighties

If you’re on the fence about buying season tickets, you’ll need to make a decision soon. According to Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Virginia Tech has fewer than 1,000 season ticket sales available, and under 400 mini plans remaining.

The athletic department created two mini plans for season ticket holders and put them up for sale on Friday.

Orange Plan: Ohio State, Duke, Pitt
Maroon Plan: Ohio State, NC State, UNC

The cost of the mini plans are $250.  Currently they are available only to season ticket holders and Hokie Club members. Tech apparently sold over 1,100 mini plans in the first four hours they were on sale.

Regular season ticket packages cost $350 and include all home games: Ohio State, Furman, Pitt, NC State, Duke and UNC.  Regular season tickets are available to the general public.

Ohio State tickets are going for over $300+ on the secondary market.  By paying $350 to purchase season tickets, you can get Ohio State tickets plus tickets to the remaining five home games.  That’s excellent value, especially when you check StubHub for Ohio State tickets.

  1. Mini plans are not season tickets. Season tickets have six games. Don’t understand the math.

  2. Any idea how many were sold to Buckeyes? Probably impossible to tell unless you do a data search on tickets sold in Ohio..

Great news if this is Hokie ticket sales, but not of the opinion this is a terrible thing if Buckeyes bought up all the excess, top off the budget, rent hotels from Wytheville to Lexington, Lewisburg to Lynchburg and when they dump the other tickets, a cheap (but paid for) ticket for Hokies.

I’m kinda reminded a few years back when TT was QB that both Maryland and UVA had mini plans w/VT as the bait (the UVA one would have been worth it when W&M beat UVA) Always thought that was aimed at VT fans showing up at their stadiums. Is this mini plan bait for OSU fans also?

    1. This is business. It would be great to sell all our tickets to Hokies but if Hokies don’t want them, can’t buy them, those tickets must still be sold and any marketing that sells them is good marketing.

    2. The mini-plan is only available to season ticket holders and Hokie Club members. As hardcore as OSU fans are, I doubt very many are buying season tickets or joining the Hokie club.

      1. And a big thank you to the ones who are!

All that is basically free money for the AD which might not have been there otherwise.

        1. basically free money for the season ticket holder/Hokie Club members who, if they wish, can sell teh Ohio state ticket, get the rest of the season free.

  3. Math far from being Fuzzy . Just good Business by Whit . VT is selling Tickets and either you can buy them or Someone is going to. I hope the same for MBB when it gets here. Carry on.

  4. Okay….so the math seems a little fuzzy to me. If there are only 400 mini ticket packages available, than there are only 400 Ohio State tickets available. In that case in what sense can more than 400 season tickets still be available?
