Two huge home runs fueled Virginia Tech’s big sweep of Boston College over the weekend.

On Saturday, senior Erik Payne hit a grand slam to left center field in the first inning that put the Hokies up 4-0. Tech went on to win the game 6-3.

Senior Brendon Hayden was the hero in Sunday’s game. With Tech trailing 1-0 in the bottom on the ninth, he smacked a two-run shot off the right field scoreboard to give his team the walkoff win on Senior Day.

Virginia Tech took a big step towards making the ACC tournament by beating the Eagles. They have one series remaining against Pitt, who is dead last in the ACC with a 6-18 record. The Panthers are just 16-29 overall. Virginia Tech is 25-24, with a 12-14 mark in conference play.

  1. Is Tech peaking at the right time? 6 Ws in a row, Packy goes no hit into the 6th inning, a walk off homer. Pretty exciting stuff.

  2. Have to be proud of this team of gritty ballplayers. Hope they make, and go deep in the ACC Tournament.
