Logan Byrd Reopening Recruitment

Veterans Academy (GA) junior quarterback Logan Byrd verbally committed to Virginia Tech in September of 2014. The 6’3″, 220-pound signal caller revealed today, though, that he is reconsidering his college future.

At the time of his original commitment, Byrd also considered scholarship offers from Duke, Illinois, Marshall, North Carolina and Virginia. This year he has added offers from Colorado State, Pittsburgh, and, most recently, West Virginia.

TSL plans to reach Byrd and/or his coach, David Bruce, for comments on this development, so stay tuned. Virginia Tech’s 2016 class shrinks to seven prospects, including one potential quarterback in Hampton (VA) standout JoVonn Quillen Jr. Quillen could also end up as a defensive back for the Hokies.

  1. Probably a lot less competition for playing time at other schools that are interested.

  2. I wish the kid the best! Hopefully he is able to find a situation that better suits him.

  3. As Bobby Bowden once said “everything has a way of working things out -and we just worked ourselves out”. This quote was made after he lost to UVA many moons ago.

  4. First it was Buzz running kids off. Now we’re running them out of the football program before they even arrive on campus. That’s efficiency! For those that take everything literal, this is intended to be TIC.

  5. Smart decision by Logan. You never know for sure, but to me (JMO) it seems like he doesn’t have as much potential as Andrew Ford or D. Lawson. I also suspect Loeffler may have hinted as much, but who knows. Does seem like a nice kid, and I hope he finds success wherever he ends up.
