Virginia Tech easily dispatched Presbyterian in Cassell Coliseum on Saturday night, beating the Blue Hose 87-65.  Tech improved to 8-4 with the win, while Presbyterian dropped to 4-9.  The Hokies will now begin the toughest portion of their schedule: a road trip to West Virginia followed by 18 ACC regular season games.

Tech’s victory was slow and steady, as the Hokies outscored the Blue Hose by 13 in the first half and nine in the second half.  Five VT players scored in double figures…

The Hokies shot 53.6% from the field, and they were 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the three-point line.  They were 11-of-12 from the free throw line in the first half, though they had a rough second half to finish 19-of-27 (70.4%).

Tech outrebounded Presbyterian 38-30 and limited the Blue Hose to 41.7% from the field and 26.7% from three-point range.
