Tech-UVA set for 8pm on ESPN

Virginia Tech’s November 28 Black Friday contest with UVA has been picked up by ESPN, and it will be televised from Lane Stadium at 8pm.  Yes, you read that correctly.

The Hokies are 5-5 and 2-4 in the ACC, and they will be bowl eligible with a win over Wake Forest this weekend.  The Hoos are 4-6, with a 2-4 mark in ACC play.  They must defeat both Miami and Virginia Tech in their final two games to qualify for a bowl.

    1. Yeah but it means thousands of fans will be able to drive 100, 200, or 300 miles to Blacksburg and enjoy a decent tailgate and the game, without sacrificing Thanksgiving in any way. Way more important than a few ratings points.

        1. There are these newfangled thing called “hotels”, where you get a room with a bed and a bathroom, and sometimes a free breakfast, so you don’t have to drive home!

  1. We have to beat WF first. When we are favored to beat a team we usually come in seemingly un-focused. I sure hope we will be ready to beat WF from the kickoff and keep the pressure on for the whole game. I can just imagine how it would be if we lose to WF and then have to beat the Whoze… I will be watching and cheering like a maniac during both games… And hopefully during a bowl game as well!

  2. Whatever the temp., it probably won’t be colder than the first night game at Lane 1982 vs UVa… It was in teens at best, wind chills single digits

  3. Love the Stanford photo on the front page for this article!

I’m not a huge fan of jawing, but I remember seeing Eddie Royal and other Hokies going face-to-face with UVA players at Lane Stadium back in ’04 during warm-ups; Got everyone pumped and ready to go!

    1. I noticed that also. Shows me JS gets the meaning of this game. Hope he passes it on to other new members who doesn’t quite understand the meaning of this game. Meaning the ones from out of state who have not experienced this game yet. Go Hokies! Kick some deacs ass and shove the rest up the rest up the hoo’s.
