Virginia Tech has landed a commitment from Jacksonville (FL) tight end/defensive end Chris Cunningham, a rising senior out of Atlantic Coast High School. The 6’3″, 230-pound prospect gives the Hokies 11 commitments in the class of 2015.

Tech and new ACC member Louisville were the finalists for Cunningham, who also reportedly received scholarship offers from Central Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Rutgers, Virginia and others.

As a junior, Cunningham earned first-team all-Gateway Conference honors for his play at tight end. The accolade was voted on by all of the coaches in the Gateway Conference. Cunningham also earned Honorable Mention all-First Coast honors last season (incoming Hokie receiver Isaiah Ford earned first-team honors here in 2013).

247Sports.com ranks the Jacksonville native as a 3-star player and the no. 54 tight end in the nation in the class of 2015.
