FB Recruiting Notes: VT Makes Fullwood’s Top Five

Good Counsel (Olney, MD) defensive end Darius Fullwood is one of the most coveted defensive end recruits in the nation in the class of 2015. The 6’4″, 235-pound rising senior, a player with scholarship offers from all across the country, revealed his top five via Twitter last night.

Virginia Tech made Fullwood’s list, which is not a list of finalists but a list of current favorites. Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Miami and Ohio State are on there as well. Boston College, Penn State, Wake Forest and West Virginia are the schools also in “high consideration” according to the Falcons star rising senior.

St. Peter’s Prep (Jersey City, N.J.) quarterback/athlete Brandon Wimbush will be announcing his verbal commitment at 7 this evening on The Bleacher Report. Virginia Tech is one of five finalists for the 6’2″, 210-pound rising senior. The consensus, though, is that Penn State is the likely choice.

Class of 2015 quarterback/athlete Torrance Gibson revealed his top 15. The 6’4″ Gibson, a 4-star recruit, attends American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida.

– VT-bound cornerback DuWayne Johnson has been selected to play in the 2015 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. The H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.) rising senior revealed the news via Twitter last night.

– Head coach Del Smith tweeted the news that Virginia Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster visited Bishop O’Connell (Arlington, VA) yesterday. Coach Foster and the Hokies are interested in 6’5″, 250-pound defensive lineman/offensive lineman Channing Hames. No offer yet from Tech, but Hames has been offered by Boston College, Virginia and West Virginia, among others.

– Virginia Tech was represented at Manchester High School (Midlothian, VA) yesterday. The Lancers now boast rising senior wide receiver/H-back prospect Trevion Armstrong, who recently transferred there from Matoaca High School. Armstrong has been offered by ODU and Pittsburgh.

The Lancers also feature 6’5″, 270-pound rising senior offensive lineman AJ Gray, who has been offered by ODU, and rising senior defensive lineman Andre Booker, a JMU commit.

– Hopewell (VA) rising senior defensive end Darrell Taylor‘s big spring continued yesterday with an offer from Michigan State. The 6’4″, 220-pound prospect scored offers from Florida, Miami, Michigan, Missouri and Notre Dame recently. Virginia Tech is among the schools that offered previously.

    1. On Twitter there is a pic of him with two Army reps, so I assume the invitation has been extended. I’m going to catch up with him to confirm, though.

  1. Can somebody list Gibson’s top 15, or at least confirm that we’re on the list? pic.twitter.com is blocked.

    1. VT made the “cut” for the top 15.
Not sarcasm – a list of a “top 15” isn’t even news worthy.

    1. Doesn’t a kid get only 5 official visits? Guy’s got some work to do.

      1. He’ll have to stow away in another recruit’s overnight bag – only come out at night when the coaches and the NCAA reps are asleep so he doesn’t get caught.

    1. That was quick : ). I edited immediately after posting. It’s fixed.
