DC Cornerback Commits To Tech

Virginia Tech has landed a verbal commitment from class of 2015 cornerback DuWayne Johnson, a consensus 3-star prospect out of H.D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C.

“Excited to say that I am a Virginia Tech Hokie 2015 DB Commit! Go Hokies❗️#hokies #HOKIENATION,” Johnson wrote on Twitter earlier this evening. He attended a “Junior Day” recruiting event in Blacksburg this evening.

Johnson joins another D.C. area cornerback, Ashton White, and South Carolina defensive end Michael Barnett as members of Tech’s class of 2015. The 6’1″, 170-pound prospect had a long list of scholarships to consider before today’s decision, including offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, North Carolina, USC and others.

  1. Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan, Miami etc. Must be a high 3 star if not 4 star. Usually with that type of offer list the player will turn out successful in making the team and contributing.

  2. Yeah I love Stiney as RC. Great start to 2015 as long as we can keep them committed. Hope we can land some commensurate offensive talent as well.

  3. Who was the DB that committed and then backed off because his parents had not seen the campus?

  4. Nice to see so many early verbals…these coaches have the fire in their belly. And i agree with those that support Steiny as a RC…he has performed well in that capacity

    1. Shame there isn’t an early signing period..I’m THRILLED they want to go to VT, but it’s a LONG way to next Feb.
