As noted, just a few events have been run, so there’s a lot of ground to cover in the next couple of days to decide the champions.

On the women’s side, Virginia Tech’s points come from the hammer throw (results here), where Hokies Emma Thor and Pavla Kuklova finished 1-2, and pole vaulting (results here), where Lisa Gunnarsson and Rachel Baxter finished 2-3. Sara Freix also placed fourth in the 10,000 meters. The Hokies did not place in the high jump.

On the men’s side, Peter Seufer won the 10,000 meters for the Hokies (results here) with a time of 29:58.61, just a second or so ahead of Syracuse’s Iliass Aouani. The Hokies did not place in the hammer or high jump events.

The championships continue Friday and Saturday. Virginia Tech is the defending ACC champion in both men’s and women’s outdoor track and field.

  1. Also, interesting to note that we had no entries in the 3 events in which we did not place. So great start Hokie Nation!

  2. Sara Freix placed 4th in the 10,000 M to earn 5 of the 37 points. 😊

    1. Totally missed that, sorry. The article has been corrected. Thanks for pointing it out.

      1. Great – free to delete my comment 😊 Anyone who runs that hard for 30+ minutes deserves the recognition 😎
