Chuck Cantor, Virginia Tech Football’s Director of Player Personnel, is leaving for the University of Florida.
Cantor announced the move on Twitter this morning:
Last day as a Hokie.
2014-2018 have been great times spent in #HokieNation
Excited to have helped increase NCAA’s Longest Current Bowl Streak to 25
In-State Rival Win Streak to 14.Thank you – Coach Beamer, John Ballein, @CoachFuente & HokiesFB Staff 🦃🏈🦃🏈#SwampBound🐊🐊
— Chuck Cantor (@ChuckCantor) April 27, 2018
Cantor spent four years at Virginia Tech, where, according to his hokiesports.com bio, he oversaw “all aspects of the football recruiting process – from official and unofficial visits to academic eligibility of prospects to social media and camps.”
In Justin Fuente’s Signing Day comments in February of 2016, his first Signing Day at Virginia Tech, Fuente credited Cantor with helping to keep the 2016 class together in the transition from Frank Beamer’s regime to the start of Fuente’s time at Virginia Tech.
A native of New Hyde Park, NY, Cantor graduated from Florida State in 2006 and has experience working at, among other places, Rutgers and Georgia.
Thanks and good luck, Chuck.
Sounds like a significant loss, but quality attracts quality, so I feel reasonable thinking Tech will find another energetic and committed talent to – as Buzz would say – hug this vital role.
It’s a business.
